Warrior Question
I just started playing this game, and made a warrior. Wat is a good second for a noob? And what is the best, ax, sword or hammer? Thanks for any help guys!!!!

I assume wammo means warrior/monk and i got the prophecies, no expansions. I plan on going into the PvP at some point with my character tho. Does that change anything?

If i up my sword skill, will that kinda screw me over later if i wanna do hammer for PvP or can i change my skills up and down whenever i want?

since you only have prophecies you should go with axe or hammer, the sword skills are a bit lacking compared to those two and the only decent sword skill you don't get until the very end. Between the two you would have to choose, do you want the +16 armor and +30 health that comes with shields that you can't have with a hammer.

I asked my friends that played warrior a similar question when I started mine. They told me to go W/E, using an axe and [Shock], which you'll get about 1/3 of the way through Prophecies. You'll get [Gale] earlier, but it's harder to use for the same purpose.
The idea is to run up and start hacking at something. Axe attacks give you ways to inflict deep wound pretty early on in Prophecies, [Dismember]. The fast knockdown from Shock gives you a great way to interrupt it and/or stop it from running away before you kill it. They were right, that was fun to play. I used that on my warrior a lot at first. Then I picked up a hammer one day. For me, hammers are the most fun as a warrior. But I use them with skills from the other campaigns. A lot of people will tell you to go with Monk secondary. It's not a bad choice, but realize the main reason a lot of people recommend this is to give you the option of having a hard res (a way to resurrect fallen allies that you can reuse.) [Resurrection Signet] can be used once. Then you can't use it again until you get a morale boost or start back in a town. In Prophecies, Monks have the only permanent/hard resurrection spells. As you play, you should learn about the AI enemies and how they behave. Keep a longbow handy for pulling, so your team doesn't get overwhelmed. If you do that, there won't be too many situations where the lack of a hard res skill is a big problem. Be careful of using [Healing Signet] while you're in the [Frenzy] stance. And yes, if you're going to get into PvP you'll probably want all the other chapters. There's nothing wrong with trying PvP out first, but you'll be at a disadvantage without the full skill set available. You can make PvP-only characters besides your PvE warrior. A PvE character can play in PvP with whatever PvE gear they have. A PvP-only character starts out at level 20 with all 200 attribute points, and you can build most any combination of weapons and armor for it. If you're just starting out, you'll find a lot of the skills and weapon/armor bonuses won't yet be unlocked for your PvP character. You get those unlocks by learning skills on your PvE character and identifying PvE items with the weapon and armor mods. You can also unlock them with Balthazar Faction, which is earned during PvP fights. At this point, I'd recommend playing the PvE side to get a feel for game mechanics. If you find you're really into the idea of trying PvP and don't want to wait to unlock everything slowly, there are options in the online store for PvP unlock packs you can add to your account. I'd still recommend just playing PvE for a while. Have fun and GL with your choice. Don't sweat it too much. Eventually you'll be able to be any secondary profession. If you really aren't enjoying a character, you can always start a new one and try a different approach. Cheers, Luny |

Suggest starting with Monk as a secondary its just easier when your new to the game.
Later on you can change the secondary class although in prophesies its quite a way into the game. Try all the weapons and see what works for you, there is no right weapon. Sword is the middle of the road weapon its attacks are faster than the others and damage is a good high average. Axe can do higher damage than Sword but can also do a lot less at times some axe skills can hit multiple opponents. Hammer is slower but can knock down and can do considerable damage. Downside is the lack of a shield. edited Warriors have a lot of adrenaline based skills so they have less energy and a lower energy recovery rate than all the other classes. You are not a spell caster so your secondary skills shouldn't be high cost or often used energy based skills. I would suggest you choose your secondary based on skills to remove conditions and/or hexes if you only have Prophecies, because the henchmen all lack that ability. Monk, Necro, and Ranger offer skills to remove conditions, and Monk and Mesmer have skills to remove hexes. Condition removal is more valuable than hex removal in Prophecies. Monk is a valid secondary choice for Prophecies-only provided you only use it for condition and hex removal. It's also the only option for a re-usable resurrection skill. Resist the urge to use Healing Prayers if you choose Monk.

Wammo's are good early on, and if you don't do stupid things that gave wammo's a bad name, and you don't think you are invinsible, then they are also good later on.

Is there anything i should do before the searing, like get certain skills or armor. Ive got almost all krytan armor, and skills in ax, sword, and hammer, plus the res signet, and a few other monk skills too, is there anything else i should do or am i ready for the searing?

Nope just hop over the fence to search for your glory. You can find everything in Searing as you go. Good ole school Wammo (W/Mo) is what I started playing GW with. Anyone remember the days of whole masses of horrible wammos running around aggroing everything?

If you're enjoying it, explore!!! Presearing has some amazing scenery. It's a matter of opinion, really. Some people stay in pre as long as possible, even permanently. Other people rush through it as fast as possible, skipping all but the required quests.
If you've already accepted monk secondary, it's too late to go back and do this, but ... On my Prophecies characters, I always did all the "test" quests for every secondary profession. You can do the quest to apply for, say, Necro secondary without having to choose W/N. Each of the test quests gives you some XP and teaches your character a couple skills from that profession. This gives you the skill unlocked on your entire account, and later in the game, when you can switch to other secondary professions, your PvE character will be able to use those skills you learned in Pre. If you want to make sure you did every quest before leaving, you can check here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_...phecies_quests Some of the Pre quests are specific to your primary profession, so don't be alarmed if you haven't done quite all of them. The first section of the table lists all possible quests in Pre. To avoid spoilers for later on, simply don't scroll past that first section of the table. |
